Join Dancing Dogs Yoga for the bucket list yoga vacation to Ghana! Join Harriet Maame Esi Browne, Shelley Lowther and Carrington Kilgroe for a guided yoga adventure trip of a lifetime. On this 10 day journey, you will experience the bustle and rich culture of the capital city of Accra, understand the origins of the slave trade and a complicated history along the Cape Coast, and explore the beaches of the western coast.
Each day, you will experience yoga classes, three locally sourced meals and an exciting aspect of Ghanaian culture, such as West African dancing, bead making and basketmaking. Practice meditation, experience a sacred cacao ceremony, and bask in the culture and beauty of Ghana.
Our rough itinerary:
Thursday, August 22nd: You have arrived in AFRICA! Visit a chocolate factory to lift your spirits(and maybe your sugar levels!) and settle in to the city.
Friday, August 23- Saturday August 24th: Explore Accra, Ghana's capital city, and visit the famous Chale Wote Arts festival. Chale Wote brings art, music, dance and performance out into the streets. The festival targets exchanges between scores of local and international artists and patrons by creating and appreciating art together.
Sunday, August 25th: Depart Accra for journey down to the coast to Cape Coast and Cape Coast Castle. The Cape Coast Castle is now a UNESCO site; an architecturally beautiful but historically disturbing fortress where up to 1,000 slaves could be held at any one time, awaiting their ship. The dungeons, with their fingernail-scratched walls, and the Door of No Return are particularly moving, as is the nearby river where slaves took their final bath. Experience this rich history in a guided tour with a discussion on how we can be the change in the world.
Monday, August 26- Thursday, August 29th: Resort time! Experience Western coastal Ghana and the beach life! Whale watching, surfing lessons, unlimited mango eating and even a possible mermaid sighting await you in four days in paradise.
Friday, August 30th: Return to Accra for a farewell dinner and night on the town!
Saturday, August 31st: Breakfast and lunch in Accra and return flight to the US.
