Yoga changed your life. Now come find out why.

For six months you’ll gather with a small crew of seekers, rebels, and future teachers to study yoga the way it was handed down: the breath, the philosophy, the ethics, the fight for a freer world.

You’ll laugh hard, cry a little, and leave with a voice you didn’t know you had.

This community will know your name, hold your questions, and cheer the first time you lead a room. You’ll study the old texts, learn the body, find your voice, and walk out a teacher, ready for a room full of students or the quiet of your own mat.

220 hours · 9 weekends · $3,500 · 0% payment plans · DEI scholarships up to $500 available

Yoga. All of it. Without the fitness trends.

All eight limbs

Asana is where most of us start. Here you'll go all the way: breath, meditation, ethics, devotion, and the Yoga Sutras, the Bhagavad Gita and the Hatha Yoga Pradipika in your own hands.

Decolonized, with love

This practice comes from South Asia, and we teach it with that gratitude front and center. Our reading list was chosen with care, and the voices of the tradition lead the way.

Justice on and off the mat

Ahimsa is a call to action. You'll learn to carry the ethics of yoga into your classes, your community and the streets.

Safe for every body

A licensed trauma therapist teaches alongside us, so you'll learn to hold space for every nervous system that walks through the door.

WHY DANCING DOGS YOGA

THE EXPERIENCE

Come for the training. Stay for your people.

Every few weeks you’ll walk back into the studio and find your people waiting. You’ll practice together, study together, share lunch, and teach each other with shaky voices that get steadier every single weekend.

Our training is based on a chakra arc, and each weekend we build. You’ll move through training in a way that is physiologically sound, and energetically intelligent.

And our room is one of the most diverse rooms you will walk into. DDY represents our lived community, with people of all different ages, bodies, backgrounds, and lifestyles. Our DEI scholarships help make sure this circle looks like Atlanta: every color, every identity, every body, every age.

Some of you will go on to teach. Some of you came to go deeper. All of you will leave changed.

Nine weekends. One journey through the body.

This training is built around the chakras, the seven energy centers that run from the base of your spine to the crown of your head. Each weekend lives in one of them. You'll start with the ground under your feet and rise, weekend by weekend, toward your voice, your intuition and your connection to something bigger.

HOW THIS TRAINING IS BUILT

YOUR LEAD TRAINER

Shelley Carroll, DDY Founder

I’ve been leading teacher trainings since 2010, and my favorite part is still the same: watching a room full of strangers become a community.

I’m with you from opening circle to graduation, alongside a support team and faculty who’ve given years to what they teach. Questions about a sutra, nerves before your first practice teach, a hard week that’s spilling onto your mat, bring it all to us. Holding you through this journey is the work, and we love it.

I’ve spent two decades studying vinyasa, including with Bryan Kest, Shiva Rea and Seane Corn. I trained in Yin with Bernie Clark and Sarah Powers, and in Yoga Nidra with Richard Miller. I hold an Ayurvedic certification, I’ve taught on six continents, and I’ve logged thousands of hours of my own training. My heart lives where the chakras meet social justice, and I’m writing a book about both.

Our standard

More hours. More depth. Our own standard.

Nine in-person weekends, plus reading, our online video portal and practice teaching between weekends, add up to 220 hours of training.

For years we were registered with Yoga Alliance, and for years we exceeded their standards. Their latest changes devalue the certification process and feel like a slap in the face to the yoga professionals who fund them. So we stepped away. As a leader in yoga education, we built our own 220-hour program on standards that go far beyond theirs. Your certificate comes from Dancing Dogs Yoga, exactly as it always has.

And yes, you can teach anywhere. Yoga in the US is unregulated, and most yoga insurers will happily cover you.

Is this you?

This training is for you if…

  • You want to understand why we practice, along with how
  • You're drawn to yoga as ritual, inquiry and liberation
  • You want to teach, go deeper, or both
  • You're ready to be challenged and held at the same time
  • You believe yoga belongs to every body
  • You learn best in a small, in-person community
