Intro to Trauma Informed Yoga Practices

This workshop offers an essential introduction to trauma-informed yoga, providing the tools and strategies needed to create safe, supportive experiences for individuals who’ve experienced trauma. Whether you’re a yoga teacher or wellness practitioner, this course will equip you with practical methods to integrate trauma-sensitive approaches into your teaching or personal practice.

Course Overview:

  1. Understanding Trauma & Its Impact
Begin with a foundational understanding of trauma and its effects on the body, mind, and nervous system. Learn how trauma can manifest in yoga and why a trauma-sensitive approach is critical.

  2. Core Principles of Trauma-Informed Yoga
Discover key concepts such as safety, trust, choice, and empowerment. These principles will help you shape a supportive and compassionate yoga environment.

  3. Practical Application in Yoga
Explore how to adapt yoga practices with trauma sensitivity in mind. You’ll learn to use mindful language, offer choices in poses, and integrate trauma-sensitive adjustments, breathwork, and grounding techniques.

  4. Creating a Safe Space
Learn to structure your class in ways that minimize triggering or retraumatization. This section covers managing the physical environment, using non-triggering language, and maintaining a calm, non-judgmental presence.

  5. Interactive Practice
Put the theory into practice with guided exercises and group discussions. This hands-on segment ensures you leave with practical skills you can apply immediately.

Who Should Attend:
Ideal for yoga instructors, therapists, social workers, and wellness practitioners seeking to learn trauma-informed approaches. Suitable for anyone looking to deepen their understanding of yoga’s role in trauma recovery—no prior trauma training required, just a basic understanding of yoga.
