Before you arrive

Two weeks in the room. A whole season of practice.

An immersion moves fast, so you’ll arrive already steeped in it. Your prework opens the moment you save your seat.

  1. 1Read and reflect

Work through the full reading list at your own pace, with short reflections that bring your questions into the room.

  2. 2Learn online

Ten hours of anatomy, intro lessons in Yin and Yoga Nidra, and recorded philosophy, all in our online video portal.

  3. 3Practice through June

Take class at least four times a week on your weeks outside the training, and practice teach friends and family in the week between.

Unlimited yoga all JuneYour tuition includes unlimited classes at DDY for the whole month of June. Choose the classes that call to you and let your practice carry the training.

Yoga changed your life. Now come find out why.

For two weeks this June, you’ll gather with a small crew of seekers, rebels, and future teachers to study yoga the way it was handed down: the breath, the philosophy, the ethics, the fight for a freer world.

You’ll laugh hard, cry a little, and leave with a voice you didn’t know you had.

This community will know your name, hold your questions, and cheer the first time you lead a room. You’ll study the old texts, learn the body, find your voice, and walk out a teacher, ready for a room full of students or the quiet of your own mat.

220 hours · 2 weeks in June · $3,500 · 0% payment plans · DEI scholarships up to $500 available

Yoga. All of it. Without the fitness trends.

All eight limbs

Asana is where most of us start. Here you'll go all the way: breath, meditation, ethics, devotion, and the Yoga Sutras, the Bhagavad Gita and the Hatha Yoga Pradipika in your own hands.

Decolonized, with love

This practice comes from South Asia, and we teach it with that gratitude front and center. Our reading list was chosen with care, and the voices of the tradition lead the way.

Justice on and off the mat

Ahimsa is a call to action. You'll learn to carry the ethics of yoga into your classes, your community and the streets.

Safe for every body

A licensed trauma therapist teaches alongside us, so you'll learn to hold space for every nervous system that walks through the door.

THE EXPERIENCE

Come for the training. Stay for your people.

Every morning for two weeks you’ll walk into the studio and find your people waiting. You’ll practice together, study together, share lunch, and teach each other with shaky voices that get steadier every single day.

Our training is based on a chakra arc, and each day we build. You’ll move through training in a way that is physiologically sound, and energetically intelligent.

And our room is one of the most diverse rooms you will walk into. DDY represents our lived community, with people of all different ages, bodies, backgrounds, and lifestyles. Our DEI scholarships help make sure this circle looks like Atlanta: every color, every identity, every body, every age.

Some of you will go on to teach. Some of you came to go deeper. All of you will leave changed.

Two weeks. One journey through the body.

This training is built around the chakras, the seven energy centers that run from the base of your spine to the crown of your head. Each day of the immersion lives inside one of them. You'll start with the ground under your feet and rise, day by day, toward your voice, your intuition and your connection to something bigger.

HOW THIS TRAINING IS BUILT

Shelley Carroll, founder and lead trainer of Dancing Dogs Yoga teacher training in Atlanta

YOUR LEAD TRAINER

Shelley Carroll, DDY Founder

I’ve been leading teacher trainings since 2010, and my favorite part is still the same: watching a room full of strangers become a community.

I’m with you from opening circle to graduation, alongside a support team and faculty who’ve given years to what they teach. Questions about a sutra, nerves before your first practice teach, a hard week that’s spilling onto your mat, bring it all to us. Holding you through this journey is the work, and we love it.

I’ve spent two decades studying vinyasa, including with Bryan Kest, Shiva Rea and Seane Corn. I trained in Yin with Bernie Clark and Sarah Powers, and in Yoga Nidra with Richard Miller. I hold an Ayurvedic certification, I’ve taught on six continents, and I’ve logged thousands of hours of my own training. My heart lives where the chakras meet social justice, and I’m writing a book about both.

Our standard

More hours. More depth. Our own standard.

Two in-person weeks, plus the reading, our online video portal, a month of unlimited yoga at DDY and practice teaching before and between, add up to 220 hours of training.

Yoga Alliance® asks for 200 hours. We give you 220, because that’s what it takes to teach with real depth. We’re a Yoga Alliance Registered Yoga School (RYS® 200), and we built this program on our own standards, which go well beyond theirs. Your certificate comes from Dancing Dogs Yoga, exactly as it always has.

And yes, you can teach anywhere. Yoga in the US is unregulated, and most yoga insurers will happily cover you.

Is this you?

This training is for you if…

  • You want to understand why we practice, along with how
  • You're drawn to yoga as ritual, inquiry and liberation
  • You want to teach, go deeper, or both
  • You're ready to be challenged and held at the same time
  • You believe yoga belongs to every body
  • You learn best in a small, in-person community

Questions about yoga teacher training

The DDY training path

What's the difference between our yoga teacher trainings?

How the 220, the Reboot, the 300 and the 500+ fit together, and where to start.

Your path

Three ways in. One lifelong practice.

Start at the root, return when you're ready, and go as deep as you want.

  1. YOU ARE HERESTEP 1

    Mūla

    the root

    220 Hour Yoga Teacher Training

You're ready to learn to teach, or to go deeper into your own practice.

  2. STEP 2

    Abhyāsa

    steady practice

The Reboot · 220 Hour Refresher

You trained online, it's been a while since your 200, or you're ready to truly learn to teach.

  3. STEP 3

    Svādhyāya

    deep study

    300 Hour Professional Training

You're teaching and ready for Yin, Nidra, Restorative, Ayurveda and leading workshops.

All in: 500+ Hour Yoga Teacher Training

The 220 and the 300 together, at one price, for the full journey.

220 + 300 hours

How the path works

  1. 1

Everyone starts with a 200.No experience or prior training needed. Just curiosity and a willingness to practice.

  2. 2

A 200 opens the door to the 300.Ours or another school's. If you have a 200, you're welcome in the 300.

  3. 3

Feel like something's missing? Reboot first. If you trained online, it's been a while, or you haven't taught yet, start with the Reboot. Pair it with the 300 and save.

  4. 4

Or commit to the 500+ from day one.No experience needed here either. You sign up for both and move straight through.

Think of it like school. The 220 is your undergraduate degree. The 300 is your graduate degree. The 500+ is enrolling in both at once.

Every step earns a Dancing Dogs Yoga certificate. Keep learning: your students feel it.
