An adjustment is far more than a hands-on assist.
It is every choice you make as a teacher: what you notice, what you prioritize, what you say and what you don't, how you move, be and breathe, and how you invite a student to experience a posture, themselves, and the practice with intention, reverence, and presence.
In The Alchemy of Adjustments with Elizabeth Rowan, MA, E-RYT500, we explore adjustments as one of the most powerful expressions of your teaching. While hands-on assists are a significant part of this module, we also refine verbal, non-verbal, and energetic adjustments; biomechanics and alignment; consent and communication; observation; breath; timing; and the discernment to know which expression of an adjustment is or isn’t applicable, effective and impactful.
You’ll develop transferable principles that apply across asana, bodies, and teaching environments. Through demonstration, practice, and feedback, you'll refine hands-on and the alternatives, strengthen your confidence, and deepen your ability to facilitate meaningful transformation for your students.
Every effective adjustment has a clear intention in deepest service to your students. This is the alchemy.
This module is offered as part of the 300 hour teacher training, and applicable for twelve CEUs as a stand-alone workshop.
