Rooted from the Ground Up: Week 4

Rooted: Yoga From the Ground Up - Week 4
A 4-Week Series

Build confidence on your mat from the ground up and deepen your practice!

This four-week series explores the foundations of yoga asana, with a focus on alignment, breath, body awareness, and how poses fit together.

Each week, we’ll break down common yoga poses and transitions, giving you time to explore, ask questions, and discover variations that work for your body. You’ll learn not just how to move into a pose, but what you’re looking for and feeling once you’re there.

Perfect for those who are new to yoga, returning after time away, or experienced practitioners who want to revisit the fundamentals and refine their practice.

No experience necessary—just curiosity and a willingness to learn.

Week 4 — Backbends & Integration: Function Over Form

Take a closer look at backbending with an emphasis on creating space rather than chasing depth. We’ll explore how stability, and strength work together to create sustainable backbends. Then we’ll bring everything from the series together, giving you an opportunity to practice familiar poses with greater awareness, confidence, and choice.

Poses we’ll explore:
Sphinx — Salamba Bhujangasana • Cobra — Bhujangasana • Locust — Salabhasana • Bridge — Setubandha Sarvangasana • Camel — Ustrasana • Upward-Facing Dog — Urdhva Mukha Svanasana • Wild Thing — Camatkarasana

Our focus: Bigger isn’t better. Learn to prioritize length, support, and function over the outward appearance of the pose.
