Yoga Nidra is a deeply restful and spiritual practice. Join Shelley Carroll for an introduction to Yoga Nidra and the Koshas. The word "nidra" means "sleep" and when combined with the term yoga, creates a paradox-- that we are more awake or awakened when we are in the realm of sacred sleep.
According to yoga tradition, every one of us has five energy bodies, each made of increasingly more subtle grades of energy. The Upanishads refer to the koshas, or kosas, as veils, or sheaths -- which we must transcend in order to lead the way back to our true nature—the Self.
Yoga Nidra harnesses the power of sacred sleep to help us tap into these higher levels of consciousness, leaving us rested, rejuvenated, and empowered.
